Fontana Resort

Just like in Canada, Filipinos have their own country clubs here in the Philippines. Today, we had the opportunity to drive to Fontana located just past the Clark Air Base about 2 hours north of Manila. This is a Member's Only Club so either you are a member or you must be a guest of a member to stay here. Anne's brother-in-law was able to get all 15 of us into one chalet with two rooms. It was … [Read more...]

Mang Inasal

In my journey to try as many local food items as possible during our stay in Manila, we landed at Philippines' first and only BBQ fast food chain called Mang Inasal. You can spot a Mang Inasal easily by the distinctive green and yellow logo with bright red writing. Having passed by a few locations, I finally decided to give it a shot at the Mang Inasal on Makati Avenue. The first location … [Read more...]

Rianne’s Jollibee Birthday Party

Anne & Rianne

Today, Anne's dream came true! We are truly grateful. Anne has been wanting to go to the Philippines with little Rianne ever since the day she was born.  To Filipinos, family comes first.  To celebrate with friends isn't the same thing as celebrating with biological family.  We have talked about the opportunity of perhaps celebrating her first birthday party at Jollibee.  At times, it … [Read more...]

Chicken Charlie

One of the things I like to do during our travels is try out the local fast food. Of course, there is the typical McDonalds, Burger Kings, Wendy's, KFCs, etc but I look for locally-based fast food venues with local specialties. Of course, most foreigners will flock to get their familiar burgers & fries at the global fast food joints, but I wanted to know where do Filipinos hang out? Where is … [Read more...]

As you enter The Waterfalls Restaurant, the only word that comes to your mind and mouth is "WOW!" No … [Read more...]

It was just last year on Sunday, May 13, 2012 that Anne was due to give birth - how ironic...Mother's Day!  Little Rianne was born just 4 days later on Wednesday, May 16, 2013 at St Paul's Hospital.  Here we are exactly one year later on Sunday, May 12, 2013 but this time we are in the … [Read more...]

Honda Bay Island Hopping

We spent our final day in Palawan island-hopping around the spectacular Honda Bay. It was also little Rianne's first time swimming in the ocean. She certainly enjoyed splashing around in the water! The smiles and giggles were a strong indication that our daughter is going to love the water as she grows up.  We look forward to taking her to swimming lessons, teaching her how to canoe, and showing … [Read more...]

First the Puerto Princesa Underground River by boat and next climbing through the cave to get to the summit of Ugung Rock and then zip-line down to the base! Today was certainly an adventure-filled day! It took us about 20-30 minutes to climb the rock winding through the interior and exterior mixing it up with some climbing, some hiking, and even some spelunking with ropes and harnesses to get … [Read more...]
